The cardiovascular fellowship training at UM / JMH is structured to provide our fellows with the full spectrum and exposure of cardiovascular care. Our curriculum follows the recommendations of the American College of Cardiology COCATS4 Guidelines. For their outpatient continuity clinics, our fellows rotate through the cardiology clinics at Jackson Memorial Hospital, throughout the three years of training. In addition, they rotate through the University of Miami Hospital & Clinics in their first year and at the Miami VA medical center over their 2nd and 3rd years or training. The inpatient cardiology experiences also occur across our three institutions and hospitals on the Medical Campus as our fellows rotate through the various clinical and laboratory experiences.
Our fellows rotate through clinical and laboratory based rotations to satisfy the ACC COCATS4 criteria. The established core rotations include:
- Cardiac Intensive Care (CCU)
- Cardiology consultative services
- Echocardiography
- Cardiac catheterization
- Electrophysiology
- Nuclear Cardiology
- Advanced Cardiac Imaging (CT / MR)
In addition to the established academic curriculum and established rotations, there are various additional lecture series including:
